Biography

Dr. Shideh Ahmadzadeh received her BA degree from Ferdowsi University, Mashad in 1989. She later pursued her studies through the MA course in English Literature at Tehran University and was recognized as the first-best student in BA and MA degrees. She started her PhD degree under the supervision of Professor Gordon Campbell at the University of Leicester in 1995. Her Thesis is entitled “Narratives of Eros and Desire in Shakespeare’s Poetry”. She defended her thesis in February 1999 and moved back to Iran. She is now a full-time lecturer at Shahid Beheshti University and has been teaching English Literature at BA and MA levels. Her main research interests include Psychoanalytic Theory, Renaissance Literature, Shakespeare studies, Drama, and Metaphysical Poetry.

Biography

Dr. Amir Ali Nojoumian is associate professor of English Literature and Literary Theory at Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of English Literature. He completed his MA and PhD studies in the UK at Leicester University during the 1990s. His doctorate research area is the poststructuralist thought with readings of Jacques Derrida’s writings on literature and theology. He has published a number of books and articles in Persian and English. His recent publication in Persian is entitled “Signs at the Threshold: Essays in Semiotics” published by Nashre No in 2016. Dr. Nojoumian’s research interests are interdisciplinary studies, semiotics and narrative analysis of literature and arts, philosophy of literature, modernist and postmodernist literature, deconstructive reading of literary and artistic works, teaching literature, and comparative criticism. Dr. Nojoumian is a member of a research group, Tehran Semiotics Circle.

Biography

Dr. Sasan Baleghizadeh took a BA degree (Hons) in English Language and Literature and an MA degree (Hons) in TEFL from Allameh Tabataba’i University, followed by a Ph.D. degree in TEFL from the University of Tehran.  He has been teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of English Language and Literature of Shahid Beheshti University since 1380. Dr. Baleghizadeh has authored a number of textbooks including, Focus on Academic Words in English and Teaching Practice for English Language Teachers. His research interests are syllabus design and materials development and his published articles appear in both national and international journals including TESL ReporterTESL Canada JournalELT JournalLanguage Learning Journal, and Issues in Language Teaching.

Dr. Soheil received his BA from Boston University and his MA and PhD from King’s College, London. His main field of interest is the Victorian Period, especially Robert Browning. He also accepts PhD supervision in: drama, mythology, fantasy, short story, children’s literature.

Biography

Dr. Mohammad Reza Anani Sarab is Assistant Professor of TESOL in the Department of English Language and Literature at Shahid Beheshti University. He holds a PhD from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, an M.A. in TEFL and a B.A. in English Literature both from Alameh Tabatabai University. He has published widely in his areas of interest in local and international journals and authored a number of textbooks for teaching English as a Foreign Language. He is currently the chief editor of Roshd Foreign Language Teaching Journal. His research interests include classroom discourse, syllabus design and material development, assessment and evaluation and research in Language Education.

Dr Shahriyar Mansouri is Assistant Professor of Modern Irish and English Literature at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. He is IASIL bibliography representative for Iran. He specializes in the modern Irish novel, with special interests in James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Flann OBrien, Máirtín Ó Cadhain, Disability studies, Memory studies, history and theory of the novel, and reading modern literature in the context of contemporary continental philosophy.

Biography

Dr. Musa Nushi received his Ph.D. from the College of Foreign Languages of Allameh Tabataba'i University in Tehran, Iran in 2013. He has taught English to Iranian EFL learners and teachers for almost 10 years. He spent the 2005-2006 academic year teaching Farsi in Portland State University in Oregon, the United States. His research interests lie mainly in the interface of second language acquisition and second language instruction, with particular emphasis on the role of corrective feedback in the L2 development. His work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Cognitive Science, University Textbooks: Research and DevelopmentJournal of English Studies and Iranian Journal of Applied Linguistics.

Biography

Dr. Hossein Mohseni is assistant professor of English Language and Literature at Shahid Beheshti University, Iran, where he also completed his B.A. and M.A. in the same field. He worked on cyberpunk fiction in his PhD dissertation which is entitled “City Spaces in Cyberpunk Fiction”. “Formable Fluidity: The Key Consequence of Information Flow in Cyberpunk Fiction” and “The Consumptive Significance of Images and Interface Values in Cyberpunk Cities” are two of his recent publications. Coauthored by Kian Soheil, the mentioned articles have respectively been published in American and British Studies Annual and Text Matters: A Journal of Literature, Theory and Culture. His interests include science fiction, literary theory and criticism, and literature and media.

Biography

Dr. Jalal Sokhanvar took a BA (1967) in English Language and Literature at the University of Mashad, followed by  MA in English Literature at Senate House U. of London and a PhD on American Literature at the University of Lille. He then joined the English department at Shahid Beheshti U. in 1976. He has interests in Philosophy of Literature, American Literature and Literary Criticism, teaching courses in Literary Criticism, Poetry and Philosophy of Literature. During his time at SBU, he has worked widely in student support and teaching practice, and was head of curriculum development committee at the Ministry of Higher Education. He is currently editor-in-chief of the Critical Language & Literary Studies, and has published books and articles on English Literature, Literary Criticism and Modern Drama.

Biography

Dr. Seyed Abolghassem Fatemi Jahromi is an associate professor of English and visiting researcher and scholar at San Diego State University. He has published several other books including An English Translation of Selected Tales of the Shahnameh, A Survey of English Phonetics, Reflections on Reading, and A Comprehensive Pedagogical Approach to Teaching English Phonemes to Persian Students. Additionally he has published several national and international papers in the area of teaching and presented papers at international conferences. Presently he is teaching phonology, discourse analysis, psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics at MA and PhD levels at Shahid Beheshti University.

Biography

Dr. Sarah C. Household-Ilkhani has taught in the Department of Literature at Shahid Beheshti University for some 20 years.  After gaining a BA(Hons) in French and History from the University of Surrey (England), she  went on to obtain a Master's degree in English Literature from the Université  Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and a DEA in Comparative Literature (specializing in the 18th and 19th century French and English novel) from the Sorbonne (Paris, France).  She continued her studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) where she wrote her doctoral thesis on Sir Walter Scott.

Her research interests include national identity, postcolonialism, the historical novel and the relationship between history and literature. She has published on Scott, national identity and contemporary novels.
