On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with the aim of expanding academic and research collaborations, Dr. Bashar Jawad Nowmi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Al-Qasim Green University in Iraq, headed a delegation to the Faculty of Letters and Humanities at Shahid Beheshti University. The delegation participated in a joint meeting with faculty members and students of the Arabic Language Department.
The visiting delegation included Dr. Ahmad Jassim Muslim, Head of the Arabic Department; Mr. Hussein Talib Al-Janabi and Mr. Wissam Jassim Hamidi, faculty members; and Mr. Mostafa Sabah, Director of the Dean’s Office. They were welcomed by Dr. Vaezi, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Humanities, and faculty members of the Arabic Language Department.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed potential areas for academic collaboration and exchanged views on mutual interests. Both parties emphasized the importance of international academic cooperation and expressed hope that such interactions would enhance the scientific and research capacities of both institutions.
Dr. Vaezi welcomed the guests and noted: “The relationship between Iran and Iraq is a deep-rooted one. We hope to strengthen academic ties through student and faculty exchanges and other cooperative initiatives between the two universities.”
Following this, Dr. Rezaei expressed pleasure at establishing academic relations with Al-Qasim University and announced the faculty’s readiness for student and faculty exchanges, as well as the organization of joint conferences, seminars, and webinars.
Dr. Bashar Nowmi thanked Shahid Beheshti University for their warm reception and highlighted that a memorandum of understanding was recently signed in Karbala in the presence of the Ministers of Science of both countries and Dr. Aghamiri, President of Shahid Beheshti University.
He also extended an invitation to the faculty members and Arabic Language Department of Shahid Beheshti University to visit Al-Qasim University. Furthermore, he invited them to participate in a joint academic conference to be held in November at Al-Qasim University in Iraq.
Dr. Mostafa and Dr. Ahmad Al-Khayyal also spoke about the unique features of the Arabic language, engaging in discussion with the faculty members of the Arabic Department.
The meeting concluded with reflections and a summary of discussions. As a gesture of goodwill, commemorative gifts were exchanged between the representatives of the two faculties.
